Hi sweet friend,
I'm so happy you're here.
When I got formally diagnosed with PTSD, I was so relieved. Finally, an explanation for what has been happening in my body for almost ten years. But I also had so many questions. I found statistics, research-based data, common symptoms and indicators, and fact-driven information. What I didn't find was conversations about what it feels like to have PTSD, or to talk to your partner about it, or to try to explain to a family member what happens in your body when you're triggered. As someone who is in the long and grueling process of working towards PTSD recovery, I'm here to start the conversation. You are not alone in this, sweet friend. And as Mariska Hargitay says so beautifully on Law and Order SVU:
"You survived the [trauma]. You can survive the recovery."
